Friends of Aiskew Leeming Bar School (FOALS)
F.O.A.L.S is a registered charity made up of a small group of parents/carers of pupils who attend the school whose aim is to support and help school by raising much needed funds. Funds raised subsidise trip fees or for individuals/groups to come and deliver educational activities in school, also to provide new equipment for both in the classroom and out in the playground. We know that this is vital to ensure that your children get the best possible start in school and that it continues all the way on their journey through their primary school years. We organise and attend fundraising events throughout the school year, which prove to be really successful and fun.
The events range from:
- Discos and movie nights
- Non-school uniform days
- Cake sales
- Christmas raffle
- Christmas and Summer Fetes
- Quiz and Bingo nights
- Bag packs
- Clothing collections
- Hosting Bedale Car Boot Sale
Last Christmas we raised over £1,100 on our Grande Christmas Raffle which was organised to start the funding of a planned Forest School classroom for the children to continue their education in the outdoor environment. Over the last couple of years we have been able to help subsidise trips for both Dragons and Eagles and provide the children with a present from Father Christmas at their Christmas party. The children also approach FOALS for help in purchasing certain items they think would be beneficial for them. Usually the School Council ran by the children would make the request either for educational games, books or sports equipment.
If you would like to get involved or have any ideas for future fundraising events, please do come along to our meetings, we are all friendly and approachable and would greatly appreciate your help and support. Please speak to any member of staff who will be able to point you in our direction.
