This term we have joined forces with Burneston in an imaginative project which has got our children talking and writing together through the book character, Flat Stanley. The Y2/3 classes (Bears and Kites) began by writing letters to each other and sending ‘flat friends’ to spend some time with their partners in the each school, just as the character Flat Stanley does in the book. After looking after their flat friends for a week and keeping a diary, the children then joined together to meet their new friends in person and spend the morning working together in a writing workshop. Through art and drama, the children planned out a new adventure for their characters, which they will finish back in their own schools. The culmination of the project will be a joint book of stories – as well as a new friendship and hopefully, more collaboration between the classrooms!
